Arkansas Sheriff Arrested in Unmarked Patrol Car by Arkansas State Police and FBI
On December 3, 2022, Sheriff Jimmy Stephens was arrested on felony complaints of simultaneous possession of drugs and guns.
On December 5, 2022, the FBI confirmed that it had been watching Stephens as part of a corruption and narcotics investigation.
On January 10, 2023, Stephens was charged with felony simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, felony possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor speeding count.
On October 25, 2023, Stephens pleaded guilty to felony possession of hydrocodone and was given a 6-year suspended sentence. Stephens has surrendered his law enforcement certificate.
